Paradise of the South

Lotus flowers, koi, lanterns, statues and maple trees – Wollongong’s Nan Tien Temple literally translates to ‘Paradise of the South’.

People from all walks of life are drawn to the temple’s peaceful and serene environment. The temple offers many spiritual and cultural experiences, including art exhibitions, Buddhist festivals, vegetarian cuisine, meditation classes and more. Popular attractions are: the shrines, pagoda, museum, meditation hall, eateries and lotus flower pond. As Janai Velez reports, the Nan Tien Temple is the largest Buddhist temple in the Southern Hemisphere.
